There will no physical LRRSA Meetings in Melbourne until further notice. The Melbourne meetings are being replaced by Members Zoom Meetings, open to all.

Railways & Railroads of the Sierra Nevada, USA

western United States, between the Central Valley of California and the Great Basin, it reaches almost 4,300 metres at its highest point. Many railroads were built to gauges ranging from 3 ft to 4 ft 8 1/2 in, to access the Sierra Nevada for a variety of purposes, some of which will be covered in this presentation. The presentation will be given by long-term President of the LRRSA, Bill Hanks. Bill has worked extensively in the rail industry in Victoria, mainly in the signalling area, and is also very active in live steaming and is currently building his own miniature Shay locomotive.

Sydney

Sandstone narrow-gauge railway and Garratts to Victoria Falls

A short NSW Division AGM then Neil Hogg will present on his visit to the Sandstone Estate 2 ft gauge railway operations in South Africa. They have 24 locomotives. He also travelled on the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls line behind a magnificent 3 ft 6 in gauge Garratt locomotive. Don’t miss this!

Location: Club Burwood RSL, 96 Shaftesbury Road, Burwood, in the ‘Private Room’, Brasserie Restaurant. Free parking is available in the RSL car park. Only 10 minutes easy walk from Burwood railway station. Please contact Ross (0415 995 304) or David (0400 347 127) if you need to be signed in upon arrival. It is highly recommended to arrive early and enjoy a meal with other LRRSA members.

The SA Group generally holds
its meetings on the third Thursday of each
month and any news of light rail matters –
particularly in SA, NT and the Broken Hill area
– is welcome. As accommodation is limited,
interested persons should contact Les Howard

not previously been to a meeting. A small and
friendly group.
