1972 ARE Visit to IndonesiaIn August 1972 the Australian Association of Railway Enthusiasts ran two 3-week tours to Java, Madura and Sumatra. At that time Indonesia was alive with an amazing variety of steam locomotives. Frank Stamford was on the first of these and will present photographs and commentary on some of the highlights of the extensive tour.

Trades Hall banner room collectionMr Neale Towart will present a history of the heritage listed Trades Hall building in Sydney and particularly detailing the superb Trades’ Union banner collection housed therein. Early State railway, tramway, mining and metal working union banners, of the large type once used in marches, are on display. The detail on these banners is spectacular. Guaranteed to be a fascinating evening!

Bi-monthly meetingThe SA group next meeting will be on the last Thursday of the Odd Month, thus Thursday 28 September. It will feature John Meredith’s videos of sundry NZ sites including Glenbrook and railcarting. As accommodation is limited, interested persons should contact Les Howard for details if you have not been to a meeting before.
