Publications

A range of publications are available from the LRRSA:

1. Light Railways magazine

The LRRSA publishes an A4 size magazine (generally of 48 pages) six times per year, which is posted to members, or can be obtained as a PDF. It includes articles of historical research, news of current happenings on industrial railways and narrow-gauge preserved railways, readers' letters, and a research section. It is well illustrated with photographs and maps, printed on art paper.

2. Books published by the LRRSA

For over thirty years the LRRSA has published books dealing with the history of light railways.

They are well illustrated with photographs, diagrams, and maps, and are backed up with reference details, bibliographies, and index.

Members of the LRRSA receive a 25% discount on these books.

3. Other publishers' books

We also sell a small range of selected books dealing with Australian and overseas light railways.

Members of the LRRSA receive a 10% discount on these books.

With the exception of Echoes through the Tall Timber trade discounts are not available on other publishers' books.

4. DVDs

We sell a small range of selected DVDs dealing with light railway subjects.

Members of the LRRSA receive a 10% discount on these DVDs.

5. LRRSA Maps

Well known and respected author and researcher Mike McCarthy is making available his maps of Victorian tramways. These maps are the "currently known" status of all tramways within the state, and will be updated periodically.

The maps are being published in PDF format (Adobe Acrobat), which are designed to be printed on A3 paper, but which can be printed perfectly well up on paper sizes from A4 to A1.

Members of the LRRSA receive a 10% discount on these maps.

6. Downloads

A number of documents containing reference material are available as free downloads in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format.
